Why more than 9,000 schools choose First News Education

First News Education provides teaching professionals with an invaluable platform to advance their pupils’ core literacy levels. Our goal is twofold: firstly, to provide teachers across Key Stages 2 – 3 with cohesive, flexible, time-saving tools to nurture and enhance the crucial skill sets that children need for the academic challenges they will encounter as they work towards the move into secondary school and the lead-up to GCSEs. Secondly, to achieve this through a foundation of exploring UK and international news stories.

At the heart of First News Education is the weekly First News newspaper, read by more than two million young people every week, it covers politics to entertainment, sports to science and everything in between. Created to supplement the newspaper the two educational tools, the iHub and Activity Sheets are comprised of weekly reading-based activities centred around delving into the latest stories in the First News, providing young people with an accessible way to understand the world, enrich their knowledge, encourage curiosity and build confidence in sharing ideas and opinions, whilst supporting their personal and emotional growth.
