Bumper End of School Year 2012-2013 NEWS QUIZ To end the academic year, we have created a bumper ’round up of the year’ news quiz.  

We’ve organised this multiple choice quiz into sections just like the newspaper:    

1) Headlines    

2) Home and World News    

3) Science    

4) Entertainment    

5) Crazy but True    

6) Sport  

In each section, there is one question from every month of this school year. Hopefully, this will provide the opportunity for you and your pupils to reflect on your year, and also on both the serious and amusing events that have happened in the wider world.      

 

Suggested activities:  

– Challenge pupils to do the whole bumper quiz. How many of the 66 questions do they think they will answer correctly?  

Find out what children’s favourite sections of FIrst News are? Then challenge them to have a go at the quiz for those sections.  

– Have a class ‘News Quiz’. Organise them in to teams. Either choose a quiz master or give them ten minutes per section.  

***Hint***  In many of the questions, children can logically work out the answer even if they don’t remember the story. Answers are provided so pupils can self check their efforts, or give the job to your chosen Quiz Master.
